Perfect Masterpiece Of Zenith’s Century-old Watchmaking Process

2010 was a year of Zenith watches retaining traditional watchmaking concepts, yet a breakthrough of innovation. The first launch of the El Primero Rattrapante chronograph watch in the chronograph series represents The perfect combination of old tradition and new technology, this year’s added tracking time is still equipped with El Primero 36000 rpm high frequency movement, with complex tracking time function to enhance the high functionality of the timing technology, but even if the function is complex, Zenith Maintaining the concept of simple design and fine workmanship, no matter the times are changing, the technology is advancing, what is constant is the perfection of Zenith’s century-old watchmaking technology.
Making an El Primero movement requires: 5,500 processes | Dial requires 50 grinding processes | Bridge plate requires another 77 grinding processes | Each part requires 5 to 50 processes | Classic models require 18 different metals. In addition to displaying the time accurately, the El Primero movement can also accurately measure the duration of an activity. It is usually used for sports events, scientific experiments or industrial operations. This extremely precise instrument, the so-called practical complication, is not easy to make. Only a very small number of movement manufacturers can master this technology, and they can be called true precision watch manufacturers.

Zenith is the first watch brand to produce an integrated column-wheel self-winding chronograph movement. This legendary El Primero movement is also equipped with another impressive technical achievement: its vibration frequency is up to per second 10 times. Since 1969, it is this series of movements that has achieved the most accurate timing performance. It is also the only movement directly connected to the adjustment mechanism, so it can truly measure 1/10 seconds of time.
When economic and strategic interests are at stake, accuracy and reliability are the two most important determinants at a time of life and death. The Zenith chronograph movement that can withstand the most extreme conditions and has stable and accurate timing performance has always shouldered the mission of aviation, navigation, expedition and great exploration.

El Primero Rattrapante chronograph

In 2010, Zenith designed a new style and new standard chronograph stopwatch. In addition to its accuracy and stability, it has also been certified by the Swiss Official Observatory (COSC). The chronograph movement can be used. The two phenomena that occur at the same time and end at different times in the record measurement are as follows: when the upper timing button is pressed to start, the chronograph hands and the chase hands advance forward. At one time, when the faucet button is pressed for the second time, the chronograph hand will stop and the chase hand will start to catch up with the chronograph hand again, which is called chase time.

On the dial configuration, the large date display is at 6 o’clock, which makes reading easier. The small second hand is at 9 o’clock, and the 30-minute chronograph lap is at 3 o’clock. The design of the watch looks simple but the function is not reduced. In addition to the more detailed and tedious grinding of the case details, the large dial opening makes time reading easier, and the opening of the back cover can be enlarged. See the configuration and operation of the movement more clearly, the simple design of complex functions, and then show the excellent technology of Zenith’s century-old watchmaking technology

The stainless steel case is built with a manual winding movement, which can provide 43 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Unfortunately, the watch uses a dense bottom design that does not give you a glimpse into the precise movement inside the movement.
